When Katie and I worked together previously on her “best shoot ever!” we talked about creating a future shoot that would involve her sister Crystal. What a great idea! Here are the results of that discussion. Two sisters, both wearing their birthday suits and frolicking around the forest. Think they had fun?
In a poignant collaboration, Jason Lee embarks on his first “Trash the Dress” shoot with model Crystal. Amidst the backdrop of grief, Crystal bravely utilizes the session as a form of therapy, allowing Jason to capture the raw beauty of her emotions. In collaboration with the bold and beautiful Kaitlin, Jason Lee captures a transformative journey of self-liberation. Reflecting on societal pressures to conform to narrow standards of beauty, Kaitlin bravely challenges these norms, recognizing her body as a sacred vessel rather than a source of shame. Through the empowering experience of shedding inhibitions and embracing her natural self, Kaitlin finds newfound freedom and confidence, defying societal judgments to reclaim ownership of her body and mind.
Here’s what she said about this shoot:
A few words on the experience… I’ve always been told that my body should be kept “sacred.” I’ve also been told that my body should look a certain way, that I will only be liked if my body fits a specific set of standards. I’ve spent my whole life trying to fit those standards and the ironic thing is that when I did, no one would have ever known that because I hid my body. I hid my body because I was taught it wasn’t ok to be shown and that if it was, I was creating a negative image for myself and was being “provocative.” Through this experience, I was surprisingly able to let that all go and it was one of the most empowering experiences of my life. My body is a vessel for which my soul resides. It is nothing to be shameful about. It’s ironic because when my body fit society’s standards, I hid it. But now that my body has changed into something that can’t fit into a size 00, I was able to show it off more. That right there is amazing to me. Once you take away the judgments from society about a body being a sexual object and let yourself be free in your body, you feel free in your mind.
Amidst the tranquil beauty of the Boise River, Jason Lee and model Katie H embark on a transformative shoot. Katie admits to initial nerves, but Jason’s reassuring presence alleviates her anxiety. As they explore the scenic park, Katie confronts internalized notions of modesty, finding liberation in embracing her natural self. Jason’s patience and guidance empower Katie to shed inhibitions, resulting in stunning images that mark her favorite shoot yet.
Katie says:
My shoot was amazing. I was definitely nervous because I had never done that kind of concept before. I felt anxious driving out to our location, and when I pulled up at the park, I really wasn’t sure what to expect.
Luckily, you arrived right then and I was reassured to see a normal, nice guy get out of the car. We introduced ourselves and made some small talk and I could feel myself relaxing a little bit. Like from an 70% stress level to a 50%. We talked through some outfit choices and posing ideas and I steadily felt more confident.
The location was so beautiful! The park was just like a forest with a gorgeous river and lots of plants and stuff. I felt like some kind of Pocahontas or something and it was really fun. But there was definitely some part of me that was holding back. My whole life as a woman I have been trained to behave “modestly.” To hide my body for fear of offending someone else.
It was insanely hard to fight this internal battle throughout the shoot. I know this inner struggle made me more difficult to shoot.
But you were great the whole time. Reassuring me, helping with my posing, and most of all having the patience to help me embrace my most natural self.
Your final product is stunning, I can honestly say this is my favorite shoot! ❤

In a word: EPIC. Jason Lee and Willow ventured into the Oregon desert, where the vast expanse of the playa stretched before them. Surrounded by cracked earth and distant mountains shrouded in mist, they embraced the solitude of the desert. With nothing but silence to accompany them, Willow’s dance across the barren landscape became a mesmerizing spectacle, capturing the essence of raw beauty amidst the desolate terrain.

Amidst the serenity of an Idaho summer morning, Jasmine and Jason Lee embarked on an adventure into the depths of an abandoned train tunnel. What can I say? Willow and Waterfalls! She is a deep and true spirit. I could talk to her for hours on end and never get bored. One of the most fun things about doing a location shoot is the drive out there!

From nude hikes with family and friends in Eastern Europe’s mountains to traveling the globe as a circus performer, her life is a tapestry of adventure. Despite a setback, transitioning from trapeze artist to dancer and nude model showcases her resilience and passion for self-expression. Amidst the tranquil beauty of Louisiana’s Tunica Hills trail, we embarked on a creative odyssey, capturing Katerina’s acrobatic grace amidst nature’s splendor. As she dips into the water features, her innate talent shines through, weaving a story of strength, beauty, and the boundless possibilities of the human spirit.
Katerina is a fascinating lady. She was featured in a well known magazine that provided her a multi-year contract, but she shared that of all the photos made of her, the ones we made together were her favorites. Her skills as an acrobatic performer clearly come through in these captured treasures.

Courtney was so amazing, climbing in and out of spaces (including an exposed natural cavern, a linen closet and going outside in the freezing cold weather!) It was an awe-inspiring adventure, finding beauty in odd places. She fit right into the mystique of the era, as we thought of detective noir novels, speakeasys and robber barons.
In the transient beauty of Boise’s evolving landscape, Jason Lee captures the timeless allure of Miranda amidst a striking array of giant boulders. Uncovering hidden gems nestled beside a bustling main road, Jason seizes the opportunity to immortalize this fleeting scene before progress transforms it forever. I’m always on the lookout for a great location. This pile of giant boulders was hiding in plain sight and a few weeks later, these beautiful rocks were gone, turned into landscape features. Here today, gone tomorrow, so shoot it today!

This is my second shoot with Angelle. She loved our first one, but wanted more! And she also wanted to go play in the sand by the beach. When a model is determined to shine, that’s when the magic happens! SO many good images from this shoot. This is just a small portion.

In a beam of sunlight… you never know who you’re going to meet! Noelle came along as a friend on a different model’s shoot. Before long, she was in front of the camera too! It never hurts to ask.

The profound atmosphere stirred contemplation on divine goodness and the metaphor of returning to Eden through Jesus.
