In their fourth collaboration, muse Hannah and photographer Jason Lee, a striking body paint photoshoot took place amidst the captivating landscape of the desert. Set against the backdrop of rare rock formations found in only a few parts of the world, including Idaho, the shoot offered a unique and visually stunning environment. Hannah’s natural beauty and artistic expression were enhanced by the intricate body paint, creating a mesmerizing fusion of art and nature. Both Hannah and Jason embraced the creative process wholeheartedly, resulting in a successful shoot filled with joy and excitement. Through Jason’s lens, the beauty of the desert landscape and Hannah’s captivating presence were immortalized, capturing the essence of their collaborative endeavor.
As usual, Hannah rocked this shoot and we had a blast doing it. It’s definitely been fun working with her.
In a bold and creative endeavor, Jason Lee transformed Harlee’s presence into a majestic representation of a tigress. With intricate body painting, they adorned her nude form with striking tiger stripes, each stroke accentuating her natural contours and radiance. As her curls cascaded down to her shoulders like a mane, Harlee embraced her role with fierce elegance and grace. Through Jason’s lens, the fusion of Harlee’s untamed spirit and the raw power of the tiger came to life, creating a captivating visual narrative that celebrated the beauty and strength of both woman and beast.
Harlee has a great intensity to her. It’s matched by stillness and calm – like a tigress.
Navigating the Boise River, Briahna and Jason Lee venture to capture breathtaking body paint shots. Post-shoot, Briahna reflects on the experience, expressing gratitude for the fun-filled endeavor. Their collaborative effort yields stunning images, a testament to their shared creativity and adventurous spirit.
Here are her thoughts, post-shoot:
“Thank you. It was super fun. Took Forever to wash the paint out of my hair, but it was worth it!”
Nicole and Jason Lee embarked on an adventure to the Camas Prairie Nature Preserve, aiming to capture the famed purple flowers as a backdrop. Despite being too late for the blooms, they improvised, embracing the windy conditions and utilizing the swaying grasses for a captivating body paint shoot, resulting in stunning imagery amidst nature’s embrace.
I think Nicole makes a great looking super hero. She is definitely out here saving the day!
Exploring creative avenues with Ally, Jason Lee delves into experimental body paint for their shoot, one of her preferred ideas. Utilizing a “paint pour” technique with metallic and white biodegradable paints and glycerin, they craft visually stunning compositions. Jason finds joy in outdoor body painting, where art meets nature, leaving behind ephemeral masterpieces captured only in final photos, a testament to the beauty of temporary artistry.
When discussing options for our shoot with Ally, she said that the ideas that stood out to her most were experimental body paint and hot springs. In this post, I’ll share the body paint section. It turned out really cool! I did a “paint pour” style What do you think?
I just got back from an experience like I’ve never had before: the 2018 edition of the World Naked Bike Ride.
Portland is about a 7 hour drive from Boise. A couple friends and I jumped in the car and made the drive and it was absolutely worth the time invested.
It turns out that of all of the WNBR events worldwide, Portland has the largest one! They’ve been holding the ride for more than a decade and this year’s estimate was that over 18,000 people participated.
It’s kind of remarkable if you’ve never been. We biked across the city from our host’s home to the staging area and had about an hour and a half to soak in the evening sun and listen to a great fusion jazz band (High Step Society) before the ride began.
The whole thing is voluntary and run by volunteers: no tickets, no demands, no clothes! AND there were no incidents of violence or sexual assault– just people truly being people.
It was an atmosphere of simple joy — it was quite relaxing — and I couldn’t stop feeling happy being there!
About half an hour before the ride, the crowd was starting to grow and the band was getting their groove on. I don’t it on video, but later the natural amphitheatre filled up with nude dancers having a wonderful time. You’ll have to watch the video to see what I mean, but when someone says “naked people dancing,” what do you think of? Maybe a darkly lit nightclub and a pole?
This wasn’t that. This was people having carefree fun in their skin.
I didn’t have my DSLR, but I did capture a few candids of people enjoying the pre-ride festivities, getting body-painted and managed to get just a few during the ride itself. Maybe next year a GoPro will be in order?
As I rode the 6 mile course through Portland’s beautiful neighborhoods and along a bluff overlooking the river, there were two things that really stuck out to me:
Riding a bicycle naked feels just like riding one with clothes on. Really! No, I didn’t get sore or chafed, but Yes, it was actually less sweaty and cooler because there weren’t any clothes to collect all that body heat.
Along the whole bike route, parents brought their children outside on their driveways where they cheered us on, waving and ringing bells and welcoming us to their neighborhoods. It was such an emotionally positive experience!
I would definitely do this again and I hope you’ll come with me next year! Here are a few photos:
In a captivating fusion of body paint and abandoned spaces, Jason Lee captures the essence of anonymous beauty. Against the backdrop of forgotten landscapes, the human form becomes a canvas, adorned with vibrant hues that contrast with the desolation surrounding it. The result? A breathtaking visual narrative that leaves viewers in awe of the stunning juxtaposition between the ethereal and the forgotten.
I’m floored for two reasons. 1. I got to shoot with this amazing human. 2. This space we were shooting in was torn down and is no more.
MODEL / ALEXANDRIA BODY PAINT / JASON LEE ASSISTANT / COLLIN PHOTOGRAPHY / JASON LEE
Jason Lee unveils his captivating “Wild” Body Paint Series with model Alexandria, transformed into a stunning “Deer in Winter.” With artistic mastery, Jason uses body paint to evoke the essence of a majestic deer amidst a wintry landscape. Assisted by Collin, Jason expertly captures the ethereal beauty of Alexandria’s portrayal, seamlessly blending her form with the natural elements. The collaboration between model, artist, and photographer results in a mesmerizing visual narrative that celebrates the harmony between humanity and the wild.
In a thrilling collaboration, model Angel joins photographer Jason Lee for a shoot at an abandoned industrial complex, fulfilling a long-held desire. Embracing the gritty backdrop of fluorescent tagging, they opt for a wild body paint theme to complement the surroundings. With enthusiasm and creativity, Angel fully immerses herself in the concept, embodying the untamed spirit of their vision. Jason’s lens captures the raw energy and edgy aesthetic of the shoot, highlighting the fusion of urban decay and vibrant expression. Through their partnership, they transform the industrial landscape into a canvas of artistry, creating striking imagery that captivates and intrigues.
This is an old dock that’s barely visible from the Mississippi River Bridge when driving through Baton Rouge. It was an amazing location for a photoshoot.
In a vibrant collaboration, model Kylie brings boundless enthusiasm to a body paint shoot with photographer Jason Lee. Embracing the playful spirit of the occasion, Kylie infused the session with energy and excitement. Joined by two equally spirited friends, the shoot transforms into a lively celebration of friendship and creativity. Jason captures the essence of each individual, both in solo shots and group compositions, highlighting the unique personalities that make the trio shine. Through his lens, Jason immortalizes the joy and camaraderie shared among Kylie and her friends, turning a simple shoot into an unforgettable experience filled with laughter and spontaneity.
Body paint is so fun – especially when you have an enthusiastic model like Kylie! Kylie is the kind of ringleader I love. She brought two fun friends with her, Rachel and Brooke, and we had a blast shooting them individually and then as a group.
In an unexpected turn of events, model Rachel joins photographer Jason Lee during a shoot originally planned with Kylie. Despite being a tag-a-long, Rachel’s presence adds a delightful dimension to the session. As Kylie undergoes body painting, Rachel seizes the opportunity for a spontaneous mini-shoot. Jason appreciates witnessing each model’s distinct personality shine through, emphasizing the importance of authenticity in his work. Rather than heavily directing his shoots, Jason encourages each model to express their unique essence, allowing their individuality to enrich the creative process. Through his lens, Jason captures Rachel’s soulful presence, highlighting the beauty of spontaneity and genuine expression in photography.
I love to see each model’s unique personality come out in a shoot! Rachel has such bold presence about her.
In a playful exploration of the absurdity of modern swimwear, Jason Lee takes a bold approach with Dee, painting on a bikini rather than relying on traditional garments. Embracing the notion that bikinis essentially mimic the skin they cover, Lee challenges conventional norms by eliminating the need for fabric altogether. Through this unconventional choice, Dee’s natural beauty shines uninhibited, stripped of societal expectations and constraints. Lee’s daring creativity transforms the ordinary into an avant-garde statement, inviting viewers to reconsider the boundaries of fashion and self-expression.
Bikinis are basically painted on, so why not just ditch it? The human body needs no covering. It is wonderful and perfect without any false modesty.
