Centered and True

MODEL / Chechea
PHOTOGRAPHY / JASON LEE

Not only did Chechea shoot these awesome pics with me, she was inspired by our shoot to write this poem and review:

A morning where the edge
of the river holds
a delicate layer of
frozen lace,
when the unforgiving air
steals
your breath.

I shed
every layer of clothing
and
insecurities,
And step into
focus.

My skin grows tight
and prickles
as it rejects the chill,
blooming in shades of rouge
to protest.

The first of the distant sun’s
rays crest the hillside,
weaving their way into my
long,
auburn
hair.

I have given
permission to myself
to love me,
as
I
am.

I adore the way my body
responds to the respect
that it requests.

I have learned
to nurture the
relationship with
my body,
understanding that
the world often injects
false beliefs
that weaken my
fondness for this form
that I inhabit.

But through my
acceptance, breeds love for
this exceptional

life that
I am only

given
just this once
to
enjoy.

– I am grateful for the opportunity to capture this landmark in time. Jason patiently photographed the raw event of my explorations. By his inspiration and encouragements, the emotion was clearly reflected in the images.
